Teaching about SEO

Posted by Servscen on January 31, 2009

local search optimizationWhen I decided to offer an introduction course on local search optimization for companies in my area, I had no idea what the response would be.  I wanted to offer it not only to promote my SEO business, but also to let others know how important SEO is to their company’s online livelihood.

I had the advertisements up for only a day and a half when my Tampa online marketing company was inundated with people calling and email wanting to sign up for the course.   Seems there was an interested in it!  In fact, there was so much interest I ended up adding two more classes to accommodate everyone.

And I was pleasantly surprised that it was not just online company owners and managers who were attending.  Consumers were also interested in learning a bit more about how SEO affected them and I even had a couple of employees from other Tampa Internet advertising companies who were interested in seeing what we had to offer.

All in all the courses were fun to teach and even I found some of the questions asked challenging.  There has already been interest in more courses, which I will definitely offer in the future.

Don’t Forget about B2B

Posted by servScene on January 28, 2009

Are you thinking of starting your own business?  If so, don’t forget about the world of B2B.  This stands for business to business, and refers to businesses that serve other businesses instead of consumers.

An example of business to business that you see everyday is the vendors that sell products to other businesses.  For instance, a paper products vendor might sell paper towels and toilet paper to a cleaning company, and a vending machine company signs contracts with offices, schools, and other companies to install their machines and keep them stocked.

A lesser known example is the company that designs and manufacturers equipment, such as a particular design of ultrasonic open channel flowmeter, and then sells those flow meters to other businesses.  For example, some such companies might sell flow meters to power companies, while others might make mass flow control units for automotive purposes and sell them to car manufacturers.

Don’t underestimate the value of selling B2B products and services.  Many business endeavors that you wouldn’t even think of being B2B actually are.  For instance, as a writer 99 percent of the work I do is for other businesses.  Marketing to other businesses instead of consumers actually pays the bills very well!

End of Publishing As We Know it?

Posted by TheScene on January 27, 2009

With the rise of blogging, search engine optimization, page views, high speed internet service, Kindles, wireless internet access (ensuring near-constant connectivity), texting, emailing and even getting our internet via satellite, we are living in a world with a shockingly short attention span that we not only expect, we come to demand as the height of the modern person’s mind.  We are constantly blasted with tiny pockets of information that we quickly process and discard, and some people insist that the American attention span is no longer trained to enjoy and understand a book.  They are too long, too slow, and too boring.  They don’t have the insane energy that is the only hope of capturing the attention of the populace.

I wildly disagree, and yet it is for that exact same reason.  I think the frenetic pacing of the modern world demands a respite, a retreat, and that is exactly what books always have and will continue to provide.  Books are a natural form of learning and escapism, even if, perhaps, the great lesson in them is simply learn how to escape-something you won’t find the answer to on eHow.  Indeed, a person could search their whole life for meaning only to find it between the covers of a book.

Online Shopping Cart Software: What Is It?

Posted by TheScene on January 16, 2009

If you are considering the purchase of online shopping cart software, it is best to know what it is and how to use it. There are a variety of products on the market that offer this type of help to the website owner. With any type of software, including VB storefront, for example, the goal is to give the online website visitor the ability to easy work through their products and services and make safe, secure purchases there.

An online storefront or shopping cart is a software product that allows the website to provide catalog and ordering processes to those customers who come to the website. It is a shopping cart interface that allows people to browse through the products that are available and then, when they decide to purchase one, to add it to their cart. After it is added to the cart, the next step is to help them to make a secure purchase. Purchasing ecommerce shopping cart software is an important process and should be taken only after considering a variety of products available and then choosing the best fit overall. With a full understanding of what this type of software is and how it is used should be your first step when purchasing it.
