Las Vegas vs. Orlando rental cars

Posted by Service Man on June 19, 2009

In my world of being a traveling salesman, life is not what it used to be. After the tragedy of 9/11, the physical and emotional overhead associated with moving through airports must have increased by at least 5000%. Even the simplest tasks, like picking up rental cars Orlando Florida has baggage associated with it.

On a recent trip I ended up needing two Orlando rental cars because my first one konked out on the way to a very important business meeting. Fortunately the executive I was meeting understood the meaning of rental cars Orlando Florida style and the set back didn’t negatively affect our business.

At nearly the other end of the country, I had the extreme pleasure of securing a Las Vegas car rental during a stop over in that fine city. Las Vegas car rentals are a whole different experience. Because of the sheer volume of tourists and business folks that make it through that airport, they have created an amazing check out system.

You pick up a shuttle bus at the airport terminal, and within a few minutes you are dropped off at the car rental Las Vegas center. The ample signage directs you to your rental car company, and a few moments more you are looking at your map of Las Vegas and speeding away towards fun and business, Vegas style.

The Large File Transfer Dilemma

Posted by servScene on May 18, 2009

file transferMany of us have run across the dilemma of how to transfer a large file at some time or another.  This is a particularly pertinent problem in certain businesses, where large file transfers are common.

I’ve run into this problem myself.  As a copywriter, I sometimes create PDFs of finished products such as booklets for customers.  A couple of years ago, I had one that was so large it could not be emailed.

I solved the problem by finding a free FTP file transfer service.  I simply entered the person’s email address, uploaded the file, and they were sent an email with a link where they could go to download it.  It was easy, and it got around the problem of an email attachment bogging down someone’s inbox — or even causing the email to bounce.

If I had to do it again, though, I would most likely chose a service that offered a more secure file transfer.  Knowing what I know now, sending an email just doesn’t seem as safe anymore.  I’d rather have an account username and password that my customers had to log in with in order to download the files.  It just seems much safer that way!
