I worked in retail for a while, and while we were always responsible for cleaning our own store, most offices don’t operate that way. Can you imagine what you would say if the hiring manager for a desk job told you that you would be responsible for vacuuming around your desk and taking out the trash?
Besides, having employees do these things is not an efficient use of your company’s money when your employees are more highly paid than a janitor. Why would you pay your employee $30 an hour to clean, when you could get a janitor to do it for less?

If you are having them clean during business hours, this is especially important because it means they’ll get the job done and get out of your hair much sooner.

For instance, if you own a dog grooming business, you could hire an office cleaning company to do a really thorough cleaning once or twice a week. Obviously if you groom a miniature schnauzer, you’ll have to sweep up the hair yourself afterward, but chances are you’ll be a bit rushed between customers. Therefore hiring cleaners to do a really good job on cleaning periodically would be a benefit to you and your business.
